Welcome!

Welcome to the Teaching Effectively in Higher Education in Hong Kong (TEHE) web site, designed to present a selection of teaching resources developed by teachers and for teachers in Hong Kong universities.

The web site is a Hong Kong Polytechnic University/City University of Hong Kong initiative funded by the University Grants Committee (UGC).

Goals and Objectives

TEHE is dedicated to:

  • Providing a useful and handy resource for teaching and learning
  • Enhancing the sharing of ideas, experiences and materials
  • Informing teachers of important news and on-going events
  • Promoting a feeling of community and solidarity among university teachers

TEHE is designed for anyone with an interest in teaching in higher education in Hong Kong. It may be especially useful for the following groups:

  • teachers who are new to Hong Kong;
  • teachers who are new to teaching in higher education;
  • experienced teachers who want to consider alternative approaches;
  • teaching development staff.

We hope that you will find this site both useful and enjoyable.

About the site

The site contains resources grouped under eight topics as shown on the navigation bar on the left. Each topic is divided into sub-topics where users can find related materials organised in four main types:

Teaching Tips: highlighting quick reference ideas.


Tool Box: containing useful teaching tools. (Occasional feature only)

Resources: consisting of in-depth studies & reports relating to teaching and learning in Hong Kong.

Workshop: PowerPoint presentations which can be modified and downloaded to suit individual needs.(Occasional feature only)

Topic Discussion: for the exchanging of ideas, sharing experience, posing questions, comments and suggestions related to the particular area of interest.


Other Features

On the left navigation bar:

Search: retrieving materials on the site by keyword classifications.

News: showing upcoming events related to teaching and learning, seminars and conferences, or new teaching-learning projects and related publications.

Survey: seeking users' comments and suggestions concerning the content and user-friendliness of this site.

Catalogue: containing a list of teaching tips, downloadable tools, resources for further understanding, on-line workshop


At the bottom of each page:

Open Forum: enables users to share their thoughts or opinions on any issues of their interest.

Hong Kong Site: links to local organizations and research project sites which are related to tertiary teaching and learning in Hong Kong.

Worldwide Site: links to professional teaching associations, teaching development centres and additional resources.

Contact Us: subscribes to the TEHE e-newsletter, or for further information about the development of the TEHE site.
